I was drawn to the texture and feel of resin. The colour range was very exciting, as I could create these airy, translucent and watery colours in heavy objects that could potentially be useful.
I can mold and sculpt a shape and immortalize it in resin with minute detail including the indentations made by my own fingers. It gave the pieces I made an even louder command to be felt and held.
I decided to put and ankh symbol on my resin pieces, I first saw this symbol on the wall of tomb in Egypt dating back over 2000BC. It was the symbol of life. I wanted to find a signature that was meaningful to me but not obscure or abstract to everyone else.
I have taken a material that has primarily been used in manufacturing applications and created contemporary sculptures that fit into the every day life. Resinate pieces are stylish modern art forms that have organic contours that fit nicely in a human grip giving an almost ergonomic hold. I am inspired by nature and simple lines, the shape being primal in design with punches of colour to spice the presence.
Each piece is individual and unique, while shapes are similar, no two pieces are exactly identical in shape and colour. All work is handmade and carefully finished to a gorgeous smoothness that demands to be felt. Pieces are weighty and sturdy and bear my ankh symbol.
I am always thinking of new shapes and ways to bring this material into form, so check back for new additions to my line.
